Town of East Hartford Service Partnership in East Hartford
HARTFORD – October 1, 2019 – A workforce development partnership between Capital Workforce Partners (CWP), Goodwin College, and the Town of East Hartford will have its official ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the new American Job Center (AJC) located at 417 Main Street, East Hartford, CT.
“The new workforce development partnership between Capital Workforce Partners, Goodwin College and the Town of East Hartford is a long-awaited accomplishment,” said Mayor Marcia Leclerc. “This partnership will be instrumental to the East Hartford community, assisting job seekers and employers with innovative workforce development and educational resources, while fostering positive engagement.”
“We have long held the belief that Connecticut’s workforce training needs can only be effectively addressed by organizations working in partnership,” said Goodwin College President Mark Scheinberg. “The support that the American Job Center will provide positively impacts individuals’ skills, creates a more vibrant workforce in East Hartford, and ultimately strengthens our regional economy.”
The ceremony will be attended by East Hartford Mayor Marcia Leclerc, Connecticut Department of Labor Commissioner Kurt Westby, and Goodwin College President Mark Scheinberg.
This workforce development partnership is expected to provide a synergistic opportunity to serve mutual employers and job seeker customers at a facility offering a full complement of workforce development and educational services in the East Hartford area. In working to close the state’s skills gap, Alex Johnson, President and CEO of Capital Workforce Partners, expressed, “Our goal is to help businesses find, retain and grow talent, which will be greatly enhanced by this special partnership with Goodwin College.”
“Our Connecticut American Job Centers are extremely effective for both jobseekers and businesses looking for job-ready employees,” Commissioner Westby said. “There are many good-paying jobs going unfilled right now, especially in manufacturing and health care. This new center will be a great resource for those looking for a career in those fields and so many others.”
The Center is located at 417 Main Street, East Hartford, CT and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It supports enhanced career development opportunities, increased job training capacity, and improved access to an array of the college facilities and employment services, including workshops and career assistance. The partnership builds on CWP workforce development sector partnership work with the Town of East Hartford and Goodwin College on supporting healthcare and manufacturing employers with a quality workforce.
