Looking for a summer opportunity where you can get paid, gain experience, and explore careers?

The Summer Youth Employment & Learning Program (SYELP) offers two exciting ways to build your future:

  • Project-Based Learning: Participate in hands-on projects that build teamwork, leadership, and career-readiness skills while exploring different industries.
  • Work Experience: Get placed with a local employer to develop real job skills, build your résumé, and expand your professional network.

Along the way, you’ll also learn how to:

  • Manage your money and make the most of your paycheck,
  • Create a résumé that highlights your skills and experience,
  • Demonstrate professionalism in the workplace,
  • And develop other essential skills that prepare you for your next step.

Whether you’re 14 and just starting out or 24 and ready to take your career to the next level, SYELP helps you gain skills, explore opportunities, and prepare for your future – all while earning a paycheck.

She believes that true healing begins with nurturing the mind, body, and spirit—and she’s committed to making holistic health resources accessible to all.

Nestor Garcia

Program: Youth Pathways (WIOA Youth)
Provider: Hartford Public Library

Grateful for the support he received, Nestor returned to Hartford Public Library’s (HPL) IT training program to volunteer on his day off to guide and mentor students through their study and exam preparation. He is a natural and gifted teacher and a source of inspiration to HPL’s continuing IT students.

Sage Johnson

Program: Dual-Track CNA Training
Provider: Bloomfield Public Schools

Sage Johnson is a great example of the success of the Bloomfield Dual Track CNA Program. When she first joined, she was uncertain about her career path but had a strong interest in healthcare. Despite facing significant challenges, Sage remained determined, balancing her schoolwork during the day with CNA training in the evening.
