What is WIOA?
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federal law that funds programs to help people get training, education, and job support services so they can succeed in the workforce.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was signed into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. Congress passed the Act with a wide bipartisan majority; it is the first legislative reform of the public workforce system since 1998.
WIOA is landmark legislation that is designed to strengthen and improve our nation's public workforce system and help get Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs and careers and help employers hire and retain skilled workers.
Who can get help through this plan?
Anyone in North Central Connecticut who is looking for a job, training, or career support can get help.

What services are available to me?
Through CWP Partners and the American Job Centers, you can access:

Career Services: Resume help, interview prep, job search tools, and career counseling.

Training Programs: Short-term training and certification programs in industries like healthcare, IT, manufacturing, and construction. Entrepreneur trainings available as well.

Work Experience: Paid internships, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training.

Support Services: Help with things like transportation, childcare, and technology so you can stay focused on work or training.
Can young people (18–24) get help?
Yes. If you’re out of school or struggling to get started in the workforce, you may qualify for the WIOA Youth Careers Program that includes:
