Program Overview

Bloomfield High School, the Town of Bloomfield leaders, and Capital Workforce Partners (CWP) have partnered to expand work-based learning opportunities for the town’s youth. Key objectives include:

  • Strengthening Work-Based Learning: Focus on providing juniors and seniors with enhanced work-based learning experiences.
  • Increasing Access to Career Readiness: Ensuring all Bloomfield High School students have opportunities for college- and career-readiness.
  • Equitable Access: Providing meaningful work-based learning experiences that prepare students for post-secondary success.

Dual Track Program - CNA Training

Capital Workforce Partners (CWP) funds a CNA Dual Track program at Bloomfield High School to prepare juniors and seniors for healthcare careers. Key highlights of the Dual Track Program include:

  • Dual Credentials: Students graduate with both a high school diploma and a CNA license.
  • Hands-On Training: CNA training includes clinical worksite experiences alongside academic studies.
  • Workforce Readiness: A credit-bearing elective focuses on career preparation and healthcare exploration.
  • Onsite Support: A case manager provides guidance and instruction throughout the program.
  • Career Pathways: Graduates are ready for healthcare employment or further education.
  • Scalable Model: The program addresses workforce shortages and aligns with state career-readiness goals.

The Bloomfield Dual Track program is funded with ARPA resources through the CT Department of Labor.

    Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program (SYELP)

    The Bloomfield Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program (SYELP) provides meaningful career exploration and paid work experience for Connecticut youth aged 14 to 24 living in the North Central Region. Key highlights of the Bloomfield SYELP program include:

    • Career Exploration: Participants explore their interests and career pathways through structured learning experiences tailored to their goals.
    • Workplace Skill Development: Youth gain valuable workplace skills, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
    • Social, Civic, and Leadership Growth: Participants engage in activities that foster social responsibility, civic engagement, and leadership abilities.
    • Project- and Work-Based Learning: Through hands-on experiences, participants enhance their readiness for careers in a rapidly changing workforce.

    The Bloomfield Summer Youth Employment and Learning Program is funded using CYEP resources through the CT Department of Labor.

    Summer Workforce Academy

    Funded by the Town of Bloomfield, 18 Bloomfield High School seniors and recent graduates participated in a four-week Workforce Academy during the summer of 2024. Key components of the program included:

    • Workforce Readiness Training: Participants engaged in one week of intensive training to develop foundational skills needed for career success.
    • STRIVE Training: Over the course of three weeks, participants focused on earning a national-accredited customer service credential.
    • Collaborative Partnerships: The program was delivered in partnership with the Blue Hills Civic Association and Career Resources, Inc, leveraging expertise and resources to enhance outcomes.
    • State and Local Support: Additional funding and support were provided through state and city investments, with advocacy from Senator McCrory and other state and municipal leaders.

    The Bloomfield Summer Workforce Academy Program is funded by the Town of Bloomfield, CT.

    Youth Job Trainings

    Capital Workforce Partner’s Youth Job Training is offered all year round to eligible youth, between the ages of 18-24, in a variety of in-demand industries.
