National Disability Employment Awareness Month Celebrated
HARTFORD – Capital Workforce Partners, along with the City of New Britain, Connecticut Department of Labor, Connecticut Department of Aging and Disability Services, Connecticut Department of Developmental Services, Disability Rights CT, and LifeBridge Interpreting Services hosted its 10th Annual Disability Employment Awareness Month Resource Fair Oct. 14.
Held at the New Britain Senior Center, the Fair offered individuals with disabilities the chance to learn more about resources designed to help with securing employment and training opportunities. These resources, available to capital region residents through Capital Workforce Partners and other providers, include legal assistance, transportation, assistive technology, and educational training.
The fair marked National Disability Employment Awareness Month, celebrated each October.
Connecticut Department of Aging and Disability Services Commissioner Amy Porter said, “We are pleased to once again celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month and to shine a spotlight on inclusive employment opportunities and resources, raise awareness of disability employment issues as well as celebrate successes that happen as the result of persons with disabilities being included as part of the equity equation. We are proud of the work the Department of Aging and Disability Services continues to do in partnership with the Department of Labor to ensure coordinated services for the employment of persons with disabilities.”
