The Hartford Opportunity Youth Collaborative and Capital Workforce Partners is pleased to recognize the $17,000 grant from the Hartford Generation Works to support the Hartford Data Collaborative. The Hartford Opportunity Youth Collaborative (HOYC) provides active leadership support to convening the Hartford Data Collaborative to share Opportunity Youth data to improve the quality and breadth of services to youth.
The Hartford Generation Works (HGW) Collaborative includes eight high-impact, innovative organizations who came together in 2016 to improve employment prospects for young adults in Hartford by building the capacity of organizations and employers to serve this population more effectively and in greater numbers. The United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut coordinates HGW, which works collaboratively with members and other related local initiatives to align policies, practices and resources that impact shared priorities.
For several years, the Hartford Opportunity Youth Collaborative has worked with 40 organizations to strengthen career pathways that re-engage Opportunity Youth in pursuit of their career goals. It is estimated that over 4,000 Opportunity Youth (ages 16-24) in Hartford is disconnected from the local education and workforce systems, and one challenge has been to coordinate critical data to better support re-engaging youth in career pathway programs.
