[HARTFORD, CT] Hartford Public Library (HPL) has joined forces with Computers 4 People, Capital Workforce Partners, the City of Hartford, and the Hartford Opportunity Youth Collaborative to distribute refurbished laptops to students of HPL’s The American Place (TAP) programs. Also participating were the Urban League of Greater Hartford and the YWCA.

Thanks to Nassau Financial Group‘s generosity, which donated 472 laptops to Computers 4 People, these laptops are now being provided to individuals in need across the Northeast, with most already allocated. The remaining 100 will be donated to people in Nassau’s headquarters of Hartford.
Computers 4 People (C4P) refurbishes computers for distribution to youth and young adults who lack digital access and literacy skills. They partner with over 400 nonprofits in NJ, CT, MA, and NYC to allocate devices to those in need.

“This partnership reflects HPL’s shared commitment to increasing digital access and helping students succeed,” said Bridget E. Quinn, HPL’s President and CEO. “We are thankful to Nassau Financial Group for funding this wonderful initiative. These laptops will help students reach their goals, enhance digital literacy, and bridge the digital divide.”

Students from HPL’s Tap programs qualified based on regular attendance and active engagement in their enrolled programs. The laptops serve as an incentive to acknowledge their dedication and participation. During the event on Wednesday, 11 CompTIA students and 33 Hartford High School students received laptops.

“I want to thank Nassau for this generous donation of computers to Hartford students. Our kids deserve just as many resources as their suburban counterparts, and this donation is just a step toward our broader goal of ensuring that every child in Hartford can thrive in their educational environment,” said Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam. “I’m grateful to the community partners who helped make this happen – including Hartford Public Library and Capital Workforce Partners”

“We are excited to welcome Computers 4 People’s growing partnership in Hartford and their commitment to expanding digital access for young people and young adults,” said Alex Johnson, Capital Workforce Partners CEO. “Through the Hartford Opportunity Youth Collaborative, this effort is helping connect critical technology resources to organizations on the front lines-those working every day to support youth in building skills, accessing opportunities, and pursuing their goals. We are especially grateful to Nassau Financial Group for their generous donation of laptops, which will play a vital role in closing the digital divide and opening new pathways for Hartford’s young people.”
