(Hartford, CT) – Alex B. Johnson, President & CEO, Capital Workforce Partners representing the City of Hartford has been appointed to serve as a Trustees of U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM), Workforce Development Council (WDC) by the newly elected WDC President Pamela Nabors, President and CEO of CareerSource Central Florida.  Alex leads the regional Workforce Development Board for the 37 municipalities throughout the North Central region of Connecticut. With its mission to leverage public and private resources to produce skilled workers for a competitive regional economy.

Alex has a successful and extensive track record of working collaboratively with business-led Boards, developing employer engagement strategies and has comprehensive knowledge of federal and state legislation, as well as deep experience with workforce development funded programs. Alex has been a member of the WDC since 2017.  In addition, he is an active member of Governor’s Workforce Council and dedicates time to serving on a number of community Boards, including Community Chest of New Britain/Berlin as the Elected Chairman of the Board of Directors, and the Board of Director’s for National Skills Coalition.

The Workforce Development Council is an affiliate of The United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) and serves as the advisory board to develop priorities and recommend policy to the nation’s mayors with respect to the workforce system.

The WDC, unlike any other national organization, plays an active bipartisan role in representing workforce development issues and positioning them before mayors, congressional leaders, and members of the Administration. It provides a direct line to Washington, D.C., and assists in defining how the workforce system fits into workforce development initiatives of the Administration and the 117th Congress.
