Sharon Lewis Wright
Sharon began working the American Job Center in the Spring of 2017. She had previously worked as a Biller/Coder through a local staffing agency and as a CNA. Due to health issues, she had to take time away from work. As she prepared to re-enter the job market, her career agent managed to help her look at her job search more creatively. She was receptive to their suggestions about exploring new career pathways, where her prior work experience would be an asset to an employer.
Sharon expressed interest in leveraging her experience in more traditional healthcare such as working for human-services organizations. Sharon had an open mind, a positive attitude and a never-quit mentality throughout the process. She began making a name for herself in our Online Learning Center, with her empathetic nature shining through as she would provide moral support to her fellow job seekers. Sharon also put in the work outside of our job center; she would frequent job fairs and networking events and her contagious smile won her allies every day.
As is so often the case with job seekers who put the work in and remain positive, Sharon was offered a position with CW Resources in New Britain. Initially starting with part-time work as a Supportive Employment Specialist. She immediately made an impact on the staff and her position was transitioned to full-time employment. Sharon is still making an impact and striving to attain new goals in life.
