Julie Vumback, 18: Julie spent her summer learning from some of the best in her future career field. The aspiring neurological surgeon had her high school summer internship at Hartford Hospital learning all she could about healthcare.

When asked about her experience so far, she said, “The best part about it is that I learn a new terminology like 'SpO2,' everyday.” Julie’s main focus was the testing of Google Glass, to see how it can be best used in the healthcare industry. She had the opportunity to meet Timothy Jordan, a Senior Developer Advocate at Google for Project Glass. Julie, who first became interested in being a surgeon after interviewing one at UConn hoped her summer internship prepared her for med school at UConn in the fall of 2013. Julie graduated from the Metropolitan Learning Center and is now attending UConn.
