Travelers Foundation Supports Hartford Student Internship & Youth Employment Initiatives
Capital Workforce Partners Receives Grant from Travelers Foundation To Support Hartford Student Internship & Youth Employment Initiatives
HARTFORD, CT June 16, 2015 – Capital Workforce Partners was recently awarded a $75,000 grant from the Travelers Foundation, the charitable arm of Travelers.
The grant will provide programmatic support for internships that are provided to Hartford area high school juniors and seniors, preparing them for college and career.
"The young people we assign to these higher level, mostly private sector internships have received career competency training and work readiness skills that put them on a better footing to help an employer, from the day they walk in the door," says Thomas Phillips, President and CEO of Capital Workforce Partners. "And in return, these young adults gain work-based experience that will help them solidify their career paths, and be better prepared for future success."
"We at Hartford Public Schools are thrilled to see continued support for student internship and youth employment programs from the Travelers Foundation," said Superintendent Beth Schiavino-Narvaez. "Today's students will be tomorrow's workforce, and it's critical that we take an active role in supporting their transition into the adult world."
Travelers is ensuring opportunity by contributing to efforts that create strong, vibrant communities and offer pathways to success.
