Capital Workforce Partners Receives Grant from the Travelers Foundation

In partnership with the City of Hartford and the Hartford Opportunity Youth Collaborative, Capital Workforce Partners is excited to announce a $98,000 grant from the  Travelers Foundation to support the Hartford Data Collaborative. The Hartford Opportunity Youth Collaborative provides active leadership support to convening the Hartford Data Collaborative to share Opportunity Youth data to improve the quality and breadth of services to youth.

For several years, the Hartford Opportunity Youth Collaborative has worked with 40 organizations to strengthen career pathways that re-engage Opportunity Youth in pursuit of their career goals. It is estimated that over 4,000 Opportunity Youth (ages 16-24) in Hartford is disconnected from the local education and workforce systems, and one challenge has been to coordinate critical data to better support re-engaging youth in career pathway programs.

“The investment will support collaborative data sharing efforts overall to a total of 15 organizations while preparing a larger plan to scale up the data collaboration to all of the agencies in 2019,” according to Alex Johnson, President, and CEO of CWP. In collaboration with its technology and data provider CCAT/NOVUS, the program is providing the core data consolidation software and processes for the Integrated Data System, as well as supporting the development of client sharing services. Other critical leaders of this effort include Mayor Bronin, who serves as chair of the HOYC; the Hartford Generation Work – a partnership led by United Way with support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, which contributed $17,000 to this project; and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, which is providing technical assistance to facilitating the strengthening of the HDC governance structure and operations.

“Travelers has a long history of supporting its communities and a strong commitment to Hartford,” said Erin Haberman, Sr. Program Officer, Travelers Foundation. “The Hartford Data Collaborative is an important initiative helping to create more opportunities for the youth in our city, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”
