CAPITAL WORKFORCE PARTNERS ANNOUNCES NEW LEADERSHIP TEAM
HARTFORD – Tuesday, September 27, 2016 – Capital Workforce Partners (CWP) announced today that President and CEO Thomas Phillips, with 15 successful years of leading the area’s premier workforce investment organization, has elected to tender his resignation effective September 23rd to pursue other opportunities. Chief Operating Officer Alex Johnson, has been appointed to the role of Acting President & CEO.
Tom Mongellow, Chair of CWP’s Board of Directors, said, “We will forever be grateful for the vision and success Tom Phillips brought to CWP over the past 15 years and wish him the very best in the future. We are equally pleased that Alex Johnson has been appointed as Acting President & CEO. This will ensure a seamless transition and position us perfectly to continue our role of growing the region’s economy through the creation of good, sustainable jobs.”
In addition to Mr. Johnson’s new role, Mr. Mongellow added, “Wendy Gamba will continue her position as Chief Financial Officer, forming a leadership team that will enable CWP to continue to thrive. Having Alex and Wendy at the helm ensures that CWP is in capable hands, and their years of experience and expertise will allow us to build upon past successes.”
Mr. Johnson said, “It has been a privilege to serve under Tom’s leadership for the past 15 years and to share in the many CWP successes. As Acting President and CEO, I now look forward to building on his legacy with Wendy, our Board and excellent staff at CWP. We have become a statewide leader in identifying workforce needs and providing the training to meet them, and we will remain that way for years to come.”
Mr. Phillips, who took on the role of President & CEO of CWP in 2001, said, “I am thankful and grateful for the 15 years I was privileged to lead Capital Workforce Partners. I am also proud of our team and the many significant accomplishments we achieved throughout my tenure at CWP. Together we built an innovative and high-performing organization that helped thousands of individuals achieve their career dreams and many businesses find talent.
