American Job Center in New Britain to Expand

HARTFORD, CT –  Capital Workforce Partners, North Central Connecticut’s workforce development board, is pleased to announce it will be expanding its New Britain American Job Center location.  As a result, the entrance and address will return to 260 Lafayette Street, formerly the entrance to the Department of Labor office and just down the street from its current 270 Lafayette Street entrance.  The new entrance is more convenient for  visitors who park in the High Street parking lot.

To prepare for the move, the New Britain American Job Center will be closed on November 9th, 10th and 11th , and will reopen in the new location on November 14th

“We are looking forward to the increased space,” said Alex Johnson, Capital Workforce Partners Acting President and CEO. He added that “this will enable us to provide more services to those seeking work and training opportunities as well allowing us to host business recruitment events for employers who are for skilled, qualified candidates.”

As part of this expansion, the youth development programs we have underway will also be housed in the new location including the New Britain YouthBuild and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act youth programming.

“Many of the youth we serve, who are generally 18-24, will benefit from American Job Center services designed for the diverse pool of job-seekers we see in New Britain,” said Julie Watson, Director of Program Operations. “By co-locating our youth programs with our adult programs – we can easily recommend the right fit for individuals based on what they need.”

For individuals who are either looking for work or resources to increasing their skills and marketability – or for businesses that could benefit from access to a diverse pipeline of job candidates, please visit the American Job Center at 260 Lafayette St, New Britain, beginning November 14th, 2016.

NOTE:  In honor of Veterans Day this month, we especially encourage Veterans to come into any of our four regional American Job Centers in Hartford, New Britain, Manchester and Enfield to see how we can help with training and employment services.
