2,552 diapers, 3,168 wipes, 25 pillows purchased for area shelters - Thanks KRA!
This October, KRA Corporation, the Capital Workforce Partners' One Stop Services Contractor at the American Job Center / CTWorks, participated in a companywide national initiative to raise awareness for victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Locally, the Hartford CT location raised funds and awareness for three area shelters- My Sister's Place, Interval House, and Prudence Crandall Center.
The events for the month were organized by Capital Workforce Partners' American Job Center team's Ashely Barnum, Human Resources Partner / KRA Corp., and Mary Hennessey, Retention Specialist / KRA Corp. The staff participated in awareness and fundraising events throughout the month of October 2014 and raised $885 that was used to purchase 2,552 diapers, 3,168 wipes, 25 pillows, and toiletries for the area shelters.
Some of the events included: attending a candle light vigil at Prudence Crandall Center, hearing speakers on domestic violence, Purple Tie Tuesdays, and Friday Jean Day fundraisers. Each Friday, all staff were encouraged to wear purple in support of this cause. Additionally, some staff participated in other fundraising events. Lisa Lazarus, Business Services Consultant, organized a team of runners and ran a ½ marathon and raised $5000 total for My Sister's Place. Eliz Cruz, a Career Agent in Hartford, collected a tremendous amount of new and used children's clothing. Kamalah Hill, Career Agent, and Alisha Williams, Unit Supervisor, volunteered with the Prudence Crandall Center to spread awareness to area businesses.
