The Fourth Quarter 2016 Occupational Insights Report is designed to provide an overview of industry and occupational growth, and online job postings, in Hartford County. Below are brief highlights and a link to the full report.

Healthcare has consistently been the highest growing of the industry sectors. By 2020, it is expected to account for 18.1% of all industries, and reach almost 88,000 jobs in the region. The top three occupations by growth are Personal Care Aides, Home Health Aides, and Registered Nurses.

Manufacturing continues to be a major economic driver in the region and employs over 50,000 in Hartford county. It also employs some of the oldest workers, with those aged 55+ increasing from 32.4% to 33.5% from 2015 to 2016.

Construction is expected to grow by 600 jobs from 2015-20 – this is slightly below last quarter's projection of 704. Occupations within this sector that continue to show the strongest growth are Plumbers, Electricians, Drywall and Ceiling Tile Installers, and Construction Laborers.
